====== Vienna Scientific Cluster - User Documentation ====== Access to the VSC suite of high performance computers is granted on the basis of peer-reviewed projets which, beside scientific excellence, can demonstrate the need for extremely large computational resources. Projects can be requested via the project application assistant. ===== Vienna Scientific Cluster VSC-1 ===== The VSC 1 was set up in 2009 with an investment of almost 2 Mio. Euro. It is located in the "Freihaus" (Wiedner Hauptstraße 8-10) of the Vienna University of Technology and ranked #156 in the November 2009 issue of TOP500 Supercomputing (rank 443 in November 2011). ===== Vienna Scientific Cluster VSC-2 ===== The VSC-2 is a HPC system which was installed by MEGWARE Computer, Chemnitz, Germany. It consists of 1.314 nodes, with 2 processors each (AMD Opteron 6132 HE, 2.2 GHz and 8 cores). The hardware installation of the VSC-2 at the Arsenal 'object 214' was completed in May 2011 and ranked #56 in the June 2011 issue of TOP500 Supercomputing (rank 77 in November 2011 and rank 117 in June 2012). ===== VSC-3 ===== The VSC-3 is a HPC system which will be installed in 2014 by ClusterVision. It consists of about 2.000 nodes, with 2 processors each (Intel Xeon E5-2650v2, 2.6 GHz and 8 cores), connected with a Intel QDR-80 high speed network. The cooling infrastructure is the oil based CarnotJet provided by Green Revolution Cooling. ===== Support ===== Feel free to **contact us** regarding any questions not answered here.
